Dr. Aumann grew up in Massachusetts riding and competing show hunters. During her undergraduate education in Michigan (BA in Economics), she started the Calvin College Equestrian Team that still competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) to this day.  She obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine  from Western University of Health Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine here in sunny Southern California. During veterinary school, she attended the Chi Institute near Ocala, Florida where she studied Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA).

Upon graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Aumann furthered her clinical skills by completing a rigorous one year equine internship at Pacific Crest Equine, a referral hospital in Exeter, CA. Here, she was responsible for ICU cases, emergency cases, and general practice that included a variety of horses ranging from working cowhorses to Olympic eventing horses.

After her internship, she worked as an associate veterinarian at San Dieguito Equine Group, an ambulatory equine practice focused on sport and racing horses in Southern California.  With access to boarded specialists, advanced imaging, and a team of talented equine sports medicine veterinarians and technicians, she honed her skills in orthopedics while providing elite care to race and sport horses in San Diego and Orange Counties.

Dr. Ann-Marie Aumann DVM CVA CVCH established Del Dios Veterinary Acupuncture in 2017 to focus on healing patients through Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) by providing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to equine and canine patients.

Dr. Aumann continues to pursue excellence in acupuncture and TCVM by attending advanced acupuncture courses and extensive continuing education through the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture (AAVA), International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS), American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association  (AHVMA),  the Chi Institute, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). She became a Certified Veterinary Chinese Herbalist (CVCH) through the Chi Institute and continues to advance her education in this specialty. She was recently selected to serve on the AAVA Board of Directors for 2021-2023. Dr. Aumann has expanded her practice to offer services in California, Michigan, and Florida with telehealth herbal medicine consults available to referring veterinarians nationwide.

Outside of work, she enjoys riding, traveling, and spending time near the water. She is currently pursuing her private pilot license.
